Trailer Progress

Greetings, faithful readers. (at least, I assume you are, because I like to think so.) I'm here to tell you that the trailer is very close to completion(except for a few evil after-effects, clip clipping, etc...) but I'd like your help with something.

In the very beginning, there is a black screen full of green words that have no other purpose than to look pretty and make people say, "Ooh! That looks cool!" Now, since these are being placed at strange angles and subjected to transitions that make them virtually unreadable...

You want a secret message in my trailer?
I'm not going to rattle off a list of things I will not put in, because I trust you.

When I'm done with the clip, I'll put up a list of everything I used.

trailer progress

"The rabbit-hole went straight on like a tunnel for some way, and then dipped suddenly down, so suddenly that Alice had not a moment to think about stopping herself before she found herself falling down a very deep well.

Either the well was very deep, or she fell very slowly, for she had plenty of time as she went down to look about her and to wonder what was going to happen next."

Hannah's Dress

One big step closer to completing the trailer.
I still need to dye the wig, film Hannah's clips, and a handful of other clips for the rest.

trailer+knitting

Another section of filming is finished! Hurrah!
To finish the rest, I need to:

-Finish Hannah's costume.
-Get Mr. Universe to climb a tree.
-Find a library.
-Record two lines.

Basically, all I need to finish is Hannah's section and a lot of small shots to fill in the gaps.

I've also started experimenting in knitting for the book if patterns I'd like to do. I'm also an avid knitter, and when you're "avid" at so many things that I am, it's hard to keep them separate, so I don't try. It's more fun that way. Here are the patterns I'm planning to write:

-Blue Dragon
-Carson's Lantern
-Hood Formula
-Starry Shrug
-Doubleknit Tie
-Werebear Scarf
-Medieval Mitts
-Drawstring Bag

Trailer Progress

Some pictures from the filming today:

"Deep into that darkness peering, long I stood there wondering, fearing,
Doubting, dreaming dreams no mortal ever dared to dream before..."
"Open here I flung the shutter, when, with many a flirt and flutter,
In there stepped a stately raven of the saintly days of yore."

"...And his eyes have all the seeming of a demon's that is dreaming,
And the lamp-light o'er him streaming throws his shadow on the floor;
And my soul from out that shadow that lies floating on the floor
Shall be lifted - nevermore!"
-You-Know-Who-

Sections 3/5 are complete.
Yay!
Thank you's go to Mr. Universe, The Duchess and Peter Pan for dressing up, transportation, and holding the box, respectively.

cover sketches + the trailer

This is a bit harder than I thought, hehe. Starting in very small scale, I've sketched out some ideas, but there's still something missing. The style I want is there but, as I continue to explore examples and suggestions, it seems that I keep missing the mark. Ah, well. That's why I need to work on it.

I've been gathering tribal and medieval Bible art as references, and even the covers of some of my own favorite books, and I think I'm a bit closer to what I want Anterria to look like. There are a lot of "medieval fantasy" stories out there, and I want to stay away from what would put me in the same pile, but keep what people recognize. Hard balance to nail down.

Now, for some more concrete results, I present to you Hannah Merchant's party dress. Fear not, those in the know, it's going to be yellow, not floral. After a long and highly epic quest for a store-made dress that could pass for the hero's costume, I gave up and bought a sewing pattern. There were plenty of yellow dresses on the market, but none with a proper(substantial) enough top, and plenty that were too sophisticated(weirdly fancy).

I have two of the book trailer's main five parts done, and have the supplies for another two. I wish to thank my older brother Robin Hood for playing the part of Aaron McKay, and my young friend Screech for playing the part of...well...Screech. Also, my other brother Mr. Universe for playing the Elgo stand-in. Ahahaha. I like making up code names for these lovely people.

Also Mrs. Robin Hood for the pyrotechnics and catering, Other Other Brother Peter Pan for holding my stuff, and Mum "The Duchess" for my supplies.
